Frequently asked questions

Does DetentionLog track my location?

No. It reads your location once, only at the moment you tap Arrived, Start Loading, Depart or another event, and keeps it on your device. There is no background tracking, and nothing is shared with brokers or shippers.

I forgot to tap Arrived. Can I fix the time?

Yes. Tap the event time and change it. You pick a reason (forgot to tap, wrong tap, going by the other side’s record, other). The original time, the time of the change and the reason stay on the record and print on the claim PDF, so the record stays honest.

How is detention pay calculated?

From the rule on the stop: free time, where the clock starts (arrival, appointment or whichever is later), hourly rate, billing increment, rounding and daily cap. The finish sheet and the PDF show the full calculation. Amounts are estimates; your contract decides what you are owed.

What is a time receipt?

After key events the app asks our server to sign the current fingerprint of your evidence log with the time it was received. The claim PDF shows the receipt ID and a QR code that anyone can check on this website. Only the fingerprint is sent, never your data. If you are offline, receipts are requested when you are back online. Receipts are extra support for your record, not a guarantee of payment.

Is DetentionLog Pro a subscription?

No. Pro is a one-time purchase that you keep forever, and it works with Family Sharing. Features that are free today stay free, including check-ins, timers, photos, signatures, scans and three claim PDFs per month.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Settings in DetentionLog and tap “Restore Purchases”. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy Pro.

How do I move my records to a new iPhone?

Settings › Backup › Export creates a file with your records, photos and documents. Open it on the new iPhone with DetentionLog to restore. An iPhone backup (iCloud or computer) also includes the app’s data.

How do I turn off usage statistics?

In DetentionLog Settings, turn off anonymous usage statistics. See the privacy policy for details.
